Rodrigo Chapa — Presente
We worked in collaboration with the Mexican artist Rodrigo Chapa to create an editorial piece that would show not only his work, but his inspiration, influences and work process.
Scope:
Editorial Design
Project Coordination
Printing Coordination
To say that Rodrigo Chapa is a photographer would be pigeonholed in an unfair definition. The planning, the sketch, and the design and construction of the scenery are much more important parts for him.
Rodrigo’s work is inspired by Abstract Expressionism, especially by the work of Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman. They practiced a painting style called color field. The artists created paintings in which large areas of color predominated, all of them of equal intensity: it seems that they are open and continue beyond the painting.
Like his work, our editorial design was also inspired by this artistic movement and likewise rests on a concrete grid.
