LA NETA NØRREBRO
Danish craft brewer Mikkeler has opened bars and restaurants all across the globe, always characterised by an authentic style that is represented on all their brands. This time, they joined forces with Stockholm-based Mexican taquería La Neta, to open the first authentic taco shop in Copenhagen.

Challenge
A twofold challenge: On the one hand, the space needed to transmit the essence of a Mexican taquería in the heart of Denmark, and on the other, the spirit of both brands had to be taken into consideration and represented.
Concept
The concept is based on mixing the best of both worlds. We’ve got the feeling of the relaxed and colourful spirit of Mexican culture, and at the same time, the creativity and openness to experimentation that characterises the Danes.
Solution
Just as in a typical neighbourhood taquería, the space opens with a bar for placing orders and the sitting area is at the back. But one can find an additional bar at the centre of the space, fully dedicated to beverages. This area uses a different colour palette and materials, in order to give the sensation of being on another place.
The shelf behind the bar is the predominant element in this section. It’s a reinterpretation of a classic Mexican cantina, and it is decorated with colourful items that were acquired at various street markets from Mexico City. In order to keep the authentic feeling of a taquería, part of the furniture was also imported from Mexico.
